A helpful tip is the 'break feature'. The break feature allows you to “break” one entity into two entities. The most common need for the break feature is when pathing a part. Often times when pathing a square hole, the lead-ins and lead-outs wind up on your part instead of on your scrap. If this happens then the part becomes scrap. This is a little walk through on how to avoid wasting a part.
- Zoom into the area where your square hole is located.
- From the “Utility” pull down menu, choose “Break”.
- Left click on the line of the square hole that you want to break.
- Right click once to bring up the options menu and choose “Line midpoint”.
- Left click again on the same line as above.
>li>Right click once to exit the “Break” function. This will also refresh your screen.
- Click the Control Points icon on the tool bar.
This is a red cross hair --
You now will notice that the line is now two lines. When you path the part, you can now start your path on one half of the line and by using an angled or arc lead-in, the lead-in and lead-out will be on your scrap and not your part!
